- A Finished Heart is a one-man production of story, conversation and poetry with a musical score, written and performed by Eliott Matthew Cherry. The play is an outpouring of life and love, an expression of the depths of human spirit. Eliott introduces Chris, his husband of sixteen years. At the age of 56, Chris is dying at home of pancreatic cancer, with Eliott as his caregiver. How would this time unfold? They talk about dying, love, forgiveness and meaning. Eliott says, “The culmination of purpose in our life together is that I could help Chris die and he could guide and comfort me. Dying is our teacher and we learn from each other.”
